Congenital Bone Disorders

Specialized management for children born with genetic bone conditions. Providing a structural foundation for life.

Managing Complex Genetic Bone Conditions

Congenital bone disorders are skeletal abnormalities present at birth. These range from common issues like bowed legs to rare genetic syndromes. At Trinay Orthopedic Hospital, we specialize in long-term, growth-aware management of these conditions.

We are committed to providing structural foundations for life. Learn more about our pediatric expertise on our About Us page, or Contact Us to schedule a consultation.

Conditions We Treat

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)

Also known as "Brittle Bone Disease." We use medical therapy (Bisphosphonates) and Telescoping Rods that grow with the child to prevent fractures.

Skeletal Dysplasias

Conditions like Achondroplasia. We manage spinal compression and provide limb lengthening options to improve functional reach.

Limb Hemimelia

Missing or under-developed bones (e.g. Fibular Hemimelia). We offer limb reconstruction and advanced prosthetic alignment.

Metabolic Rickets

Genetic Vitamin D resistance. We use "Guided Growth" (small plates) to gently straighten legs while the child grows.

A Long-Term Partnership

Genetic disorders require care that spans from infancy to adulthood. We partner with families to monitor growth milestones and intervene at the precise biological moment to avoid complex reconstructive surgery later in life.

Genetic Bone FAQs

What are telescoping rods?

Used in Osteogenesis Imperfecta, these are metal rods inserted into the bone that expand like an antenna as the child grows. This provides continuous internal support without needing repeated surgeries to replace rods.

Can bowed legs in children be corrected without major surgery?

Yes! We use "Guided Growth" (Hemi-epiphysiodesis), where a small plate is placed across the growth plate temporarily. This uses the child's own growth process to straighten the leg over 6-12 months.
