Hip Fracture Surgery

Rapid surgical intervention for senior citizens. Restoring mobility, preventing complications, and saving lives.

A Medical & Surgical Emergency

A hip fracture in an elderly patient is more than just a broken bone—it is a major medical event. Prolonged bed rest due to a hip fracture can lead to life-threatening complications like pneumonia, blood clots, and bedsores. At Trinay Orthopedic Hospital, our philosophy is "Early Surgery, Early Mobility."

We are dedicated to geriatric care excellence. Read more on our About Us page, or Contact Us for emergency support.

Our team is specialized in mobilizing senior patients within 24-48 hours of surgery, which is the gold standard for geriatric orthopedic recovery.

Surgical Options

DHS / PFN Fixation

Used for fractures where the bone can be saved. We use dynamic screws or nails to stabilize the break.

Hemiarthroplasty

Replacing the "ball" of the hip joint. Usually recommended for femoral neck fractures in active seniors.

Total Hip Replacement

A complete replacement of both the ball and socket of the hip joint. Ideal for severe fractures, arthritis, or when long-term joint function and pain relief are priorities.

The Multi-Disciplinary Approach

Because many hip fracture patients have existing conditions like diabetes or heart disease, we provide holistic care:

  • Peri-Operative Optimization: Working with cardiologists to ensure heart safety during surgery.
  • Pain Management: Advanced nerve blocks to reduce the need for strong systemic painkillers.
  • Geriatric Rehab: Specialized physio focus on balance and fall prevention.

The "Golden 48 Hours"

Research shows that operating on a hip fracture within 48 hours significantly reduces the risk of post-operative complications. We prioritize these cases as emergencies to ensure the best possible outcome for your loved ones.

Hip Fracture FAQs

Is surgery always necessary?

For almost all hip fractures, surgery is necessary. Non-surgical treatment usually involves months of bed rest, which carries a extremely high risk of complications for elderly patients. Surgery allows the patient to get out of bed quickly.

Will they be able to walk again?

Yes. With modern implants and early physiotherapy, most patients can start standing with a walker within 2-3 days of surgery and eventually return to their baseline level of mobility.
